The Rooms card

FreeWorks with: Home Assistant, Apple HomeAbout 1 minute to set up

Every room at a glance: its temperature, or how many lights are on.

What it shows

Each room in your home, with an icon, its name and its temperature. The temperature is the room's thermostat reading, or else a temperature sensor in the room. A room with neither shows how many of its lights are on instead, so a home with no temperature sensors still has something true to show. Rooms that have a temperature come first.

The rooms are the ones your smart home already has: areas in Home Assistant, rooms in Apple Home. If it has none, the card lists your thermostats and temperature sensors, each as a room of its own.

How many rooms appear depends on the size of the tile. A large tile shows up to eight, in two columns. A medium tile shows about four. A small tile shows one or two rows, and a strip shows one tile: the first room's icon, its temperature and its name. When a column is too narrow for the name and the reading side by side, the reading moves under the name.

Add the card

Every card is added the same way. If you have done this before, skip ahead.

  1. On the dashboard, move to a card you want to replace. Press and hold the center of the remote's pad for about a second. The card dims and a Modify button appears on it.

The Choose a card screen. The list down the left side narrows the cards by group.
  3. On the left, choose Home, then move right and choose Rooms. (You can also leave the list on All and scroll; it is in alphabetical order.)
  4. There is nothing to set up. A card that needs no setup is added the moment you select it. You return to the dashboard with the new card in place.
