Set up your Theatrium dashboard with Siri

Ask Siri for a card, say which panel it goes in, and it appears on the TV. You never have to describe where you mean — your TV puts a number on each panel and you read off the one you want.

What you need

  • The Theatrium app on your iPhone or iPad — it is free. Siri learns the phrases from it, so it has to be installed. It does not have to be open.
  • The app paired with your Apple TV — the same pairing you already use to control it from your phone.
  • Theatrium open on the TV — you are changing the dashboard that is on screen. If the TV is asleep or on something else, say “Hey Siri, open Theatrium on your Apple TV’s name” — the name you gave it in the Apple Home app on your phone.

Ask Siri on your iPhone or iPad

Say “Hey Siri, customise my Theatrium”. That is the one phrase worth remembering — it works whether or not you know what you want yet.

The first time, iOS asks whether Siri may use Theatrium. Allow it; it only asks once.

Choose a card

Siri shows the list of cards you can ask for. Say one, or tap it.

If you already know what you want, you can skip this step by naming it up front: “Hey Siri, add weather radar in Theatrium”.

Say the panel number

Look at your TV. Every panel now has a number on it. Say the one you want — “three”.

The numbers are the same ones the panel editor uses, and they appear only while Siri is asking. If your second page is on screen, its panels are numbered instead and the card goes there.

Finish it off on the TV

The card appears, and its settings open straight away so you can pick a camera, choose a calendar, or simply accept what it suggests.

That screen is also the way back. Whatever was in the panel before has been replaced; nothing else on the dashboard moves.

Cards you can ask for by name

Every card can still be added the usual way — see Dashboard cards. These are the ones that answer to their names out loud:

  • Weather Radar, Weather
  • Camera, Calendar, Lights
  • Now Playing, Art
  • Stocks, Markets, Crypto
  • Air Quality, Solar, Battery

If something goes wrong

  • “Theatrium isn’t open on your Apple TV.” The TV needs to be awake and showing Theatrium. Say “Hey Siri, open Theatrium on your Apple TV’s name”.
  • Siri says it can’t do that. The first time, iOS asks permission for Siri to use Theatrium. Allow it and ask again.
  • It asks which Apple TV. That happens when your phone is paired with more than one. Answer with the room name.
  • It heard the wrong card. Try the full name — “weather radar” rather than “radar”.
  • “That doesn’t fit panel 3.” Some cards need a bigger panel. Nothing is changed; pick a larger one.
